Thank You for Coming to the Teacher Education Reunion
September 22 & 23, 2017
The Teacher Education Reunion Committee consistently and effectively used the theme Doors of Opportunity to celebrate the service and significance of our teacher education alumni.
From the opening Mix and Mingle to the final Celebration of God’s Open Doors of Opportunity, alumni shared stories, laughter, and some tears.
Upon arriving, alumni put stickers on USA and World maps showing where they taught. Then, after a few hugs, teacher educators completed bright orange and yellow “written connections” of their favorite grades and memories, which were displayed for all to see.
Both active and retired teachers enjoyed a buffet dinner with more conversation and fun. Later in the evening, Char (Miller) Binkley g64, with the help of Madison (Robbins) Freeman g09 and Michael McPeak g09 led a time down memory lane as alumni shared brief stories. Via large screen video clips, skillfully produced by Dr. Jay Platte g69, alumni educators shared how their education on campus opened doors of opportunity for them.

On Saturday morning, additional alumni joined as Char shared an inspirational talk entitled, “Let me call you a door knob”. She encouraged alumni to open doors of opportunities for others and to open a door of prayer for a specific person in their lives.
Following lunch, the After-Meal Sing led by Keith Sholl g67 and Deb (Lehman) Shaw g80, was so enjoyable that alumni wished more songs had been sung! Then Alumni Award winners each shared how God had opened Doors of Opportunity for their ministries here and abroad.
Fifty-Five volunteers pulled together Reunion Weekend. Special thanks to Naomi (Buckels) Heidelberg g69 and Sari (Pafford) Harris g88, who co-lead the Teacher Education Reunion Committee.
