Divine Attachment

Luke 23:43
Harry Emerson Fosdick once said:
“We cannot all be great, but we can always attach ourselves to someone that is great.”
Perhaps this is what the penitent thief had in mind when he said to the Lord, “Remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Perhaps he recognized the greatness of grace and the giver of it. Evidently it was a confession of faith, because Christ’s response in Luke 23:43 gives positive assurance.
“Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
Even while dying for the sins of the world our Lord took time to evangelize, to welcome a soul into His kingdom.
Today, to whom are you attached? Do you identify with some temporary hero, or are you attached to the giver of grace?
“I walk with the King, hallelujah!
I walk with the King, praise His name!
No longer I roam, my soul faces home,
I walk and I talk with the King.”
