Victory/Triumph/Faithfulness/Finishing Strong
John 19:30
“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished: With that he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
These words are not words of defeat but of supreme victory. Actually Jesus rested his back with a sigh of relief because the fight had been fought, the race had been run, and faith had been kept. This is His divine shout of triumph. For Him, Calvary spelled relief from the weight of sin that had been laid on His sinless shoulders, and interestingly enough for us Calvary also spells relief. Relief from condemnation that we deserve because of sin and wickedness.
It is such a joy to serve a Lord who finished what He started, who completed the total task. Now, it is my opportunity to respond by finishing the tasks He has laid out for me. When I complete them I know His words of approval will be given: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Because He was faithful, I can be faithful!
