On March 20, your Fort Wayne Alumni Center will be hosting our fifth annual Day of Giving, which we hope is a day of fun and funds.

The theme this year is “common ground.” The staff of your Alumni Center hope that this theme will draw alumni together to reflect on their similar calling, no matter when they attended school at the Fort Wayne campus.

“It’s the same ground, but obviously [students might] look a lot different between the students of 1904 and those of 2009,” Michael Mortensen g91, Director of Fort Wayne Alumni and Friend Relations, says. “But the common ground that we have is our Christ-centered, biblically-anchored, world-engaged, and servant-leader focused education that continues to shape our worldview and ministry today.”

The annual Day of Giving is an important event for us at the Alumni Center, as it allows us to continue our ministry of caring, connecting, and celebrating all for the glory of God. “I would encourage people to connect with us over the phone or virtually during Day of Giving but unfortunately, not in person" says Stephanie (Cox) Demorest g93, Alumni Center Coordinator, “either through Facebook Live, on our website, or over the phone (260.744.8790); interact with us, because we are continuing the ministry, and we need our alumni to participate in this event if we are going to move forward strongly.”

The fun day is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. We are planning several interviews, challenges, and general fun on the Alumni Center’s Facebook page. Michael will be streaming via Facebook Live throughout the day.

Guests will include Anthony Opliger, former campus chaplain for Taylor Fort Wayne; three generations of the Logan family, who all attended school at either the Fort Wayne or the Upland campus; and hopefully some other surprise guests. These livestreams will also be uploaded to the Alumni Center’s website for those who aren’t able to watch on Facebook.

Let’s use this time to show your green and to celebrate our common ground. Please consider giving or pledging a financial gift toward the ministry in honor or memory of a spouse, alumnus, or a faculty or staff member, and sharing with us your prayer requests.

The fundraising goal for this year is $27,500. Gifts and pledges can be made today through March 20, 2020 online at www.fwalumnicenter.com/dayofgiving; by phone at 260-744-8790; by mail (cash or check) to the address 701 W Rudisill Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN; or even in person at the same address. And we will forward your prayer requests to our 30-member Alumni Volunteer Prayer Team, who pray faithfully for our alumni.

Above all, we hope this day provides alumni the chance to renew fellowship with old friends. “I really encourage people to have fun and use the day to reconnect with their college friends,” Michael comments. “We have a couple of surprises up our sleeves too—we’ll unveil those on the Day of Giving!”
