Forgiveness and Forgetfulness

Isaiah 43:25
“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”
According to an ancient oriental tradition, whenever a debt was settled, either by payment or forgiveness, the creditor would take the canceled bond and nail it over the door of the own who owed it. Anyone passing by could then see that it had been fully paid. On a divine plane it is God who offers this type of authentic forgiveness as we read in Isaiah 43:25,
“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”
With God forgiveness is equal to forgetfulness. Amazingly his omniscient, all-knowing mind elects to erase the memory of our transgressions from his remembrance. How unlike man who frequently hordes and harbors thoughts of our failures and sins in a permanent memory bank. So, let’s thank God he is not like man. Let’s thank him today for his total forgiveness and his total forgetfulness.
Song:
And when before the throne I stand in him complete,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
My lips shall still repeat.
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain-He washed it white as snow.
