In Accordance With (v. 3-14)
In Psalm 111 we have amazing tributes to the Greatness of our God:
Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds and his righteousness endures forever. . . . He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations. . . . He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever---holy and awesome is his name.
- Defining His Works: (K. Kantzer)
- Creation v. 3—He is the Creator of humanity & the Universe
- Foreordination v. 4 He plans all that happens in the world & in us.
- Predestination v. 5,7 He plans our salvation
- Preservation v. 13,14 He preserves us as His Children & Family
- Providence v. 13,14 He guides us throughout our lives.
- Taking the Credit: (All about Him, Not about us)
- According to his pleasure–not ours
- According to his will–not ours
- According to his plan–not ours
- According to his purpose–not ours
- According to his promise–ot ours
- Response:
“What tho’ the way be lonely, And dark the shadows fall: I know wher-e’er it leadeth, My Father planned it all.
There may be sunshine tomorrow; Shadows may break and flee; Twill be the way He chooses, The Father’s plan for me.
He guides my faltering footsteps, along the weary way, For well He knows the pathway; will lead to endless day:
A day of light and gladness, on which no shade will fall , ‘Tis this at last awaits me–my Father planned it all.
Refrain: I sing through the shade and the sunshine, I’ll trust him whatever befall; I sing for I cannot be silent---My Father planned it all.”
