Neutrality is Dangerous

John 18:28-19:16
“You’ve gotta stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything. You’ve gotta be your own man, not a puppet on a string.”
--Aaron Tippin
These words suggest that it is important to be decisive. It is crucial to be committed. Indecisiveness and neutrality are fatal. He who thinks he can simply float along aimlessly without making choices is facing catastrophe spiritually. In John’s gospel, chapters 18 and 19, we are told of Christ’s trial before Pilate. The Roman Governor attempted to establish a position of neutrality concerning Jesus. He wanted to appease the religious leaders, yet he also became aware of Jesus’ innocence. So he sought to wash his hands of the whole situation. But it was an impossible task. Listen to the analysis of the song writer:
Jesus is standing in Pilate’s hall, friendless, forsaken, betrayed by all,
Hearken, what meaneth the sudden call? What will you do with Jesus? What will you do with Jesus?
Neutral you cannot be.
Someday your heart will be asking,
What will He do with me?--A. B. Simpson
