The Cost of Calvary

I Corinthians 6:19b
I shall never forget my experience in the Holy Land when I decided to climb the Hill of the Skull, which we Christians know as Calvary. I wanted to see where Jesus had died, where He had paid for my sins. However, as we came near to the spot we were informed by the caretaker of a Muslim cemetery that we could proceed no further until we paid a fee. So, in 1967 it cost me to go to Calvary.
Fortunately, my Lord’s sacrifice years ago paid for my salvation in full and there is no additional charge. But for the Lord the trip to Calvary was costly—He paid with His life, and I need to be reminded of Paul’s words in I Corinthians 6, “You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.” In view of His sacrifice it is the least I can do.
